The cost of the GED exam is covered by the  individual and/or partnering agencies.

Parenting Classes

"New Life" Parenting Programs are a family-centered initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to ineffective child-rearing practices. The programs feature activities to foster positive parenting skills and self-nurturing, home practice exercises, family nurturing time, and activities to promote positive brain development in children birth to 18 years. Parents and children attend groups designed to build self-awareness, positive concept/self-esteem and build levels of empathy. Our goal is to  teach alternatives to hitting and yelling; enhance family communication and awareness of needs; replace abusive behaviors with nurturing behaviors; promote healthy physical and emotional development; and teach appropriate role and developmental expectations.

Job Readiness Courses

Job readiness training programs prepare participants to get, keep and excel at a new job. Basic employ-ability skills include effective communication, problem solving, resume building, and interviewing. Job readiness training programs also help participants develop good work habits that facilitate their ongoing success.  We provide a four-week course that meets twice weekly to develop skills such as: communication, interview, problem solving, resume building, job search and retention, and computer literacy. Job readiness programs may also provide transportation and childcare.
